Job summary

The City of Canterbury Bankstown is seeking a permanent full-time Team Leader Payroll to lead the payroll function, ensure accuracy, compliance and exceptional customer service across the organisation. You will manage the payroll team, oversee systems and processes, develop policies in line with legislation and awards, and drive continuous improvement with external partners.

Key requirements include tertiary qualifications in HR/Finance, end-to-end payroll experience, and capability in HRIS such

Qualifications

• Experience leading end-to-end payroll in medium to large organisations.
• Strong knowledge of Award and Enterprise Agreement interpretation, superannuation, PAYG, STP and taxation.
• Proven experience leading and developing a payroll team.
• Experience using HRIS and payroll systems such as SuccessFactors, SAP and Kronos.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and develop the Payroll team, building capability, performance and a positive team environment.
• Oversee the effective delivery of payroll operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance and high-quality customer service.
• Develop and maintain payroll policies and procedures in line with legislation, Award requirements and Council standards.
• Provide expert payroll and systems advice, ensuring compliance with ATO, superannuation and internal requirements.
• Coordinate payroll reconciliations, audits and end-of-year processes.
• Drive continuous improvement across payroll systems, processes and service delivery.
• Oversee payroll system maintenance and work collaboratively with internal stakeholders, vendors and external specialists.
• Identify training needs and deliver payroll-related training and development across the team and organisation.
