Job summary

Peoplecorp is recruiting on behalf of a large Australian university for two Payroll Team Lead roles. You will oversee one fortnightly pay run and coach a team of payroll specialists, delivering accurate, timely outcomes.

The role emphasizes payroll controls, governance, and continuous improvement, with exposure to senior stakeholders. Our client offers work from home two days per week, flexible hours, and salary-sacrificed parking; a collaborative team in a well-regarded organisation.

Qualifications

• Proven leadership experience in a high-volume payroll environment.
• Strong knowledge of payroll legislation, awards and enterprise agreements.
• Experience in payroll controls, governance, risk mitigation and audit.

Responsibilities

• Lead one of two fortnightly pay runs and the payroll team.
• Coach and develop staff; set clear expectations and accountability.
• Escalation point for complex payroll issues and liaising with senior stakeholders.
• Own payroll controls and compliance, and coordinate audit requests.
• Drive continuous improvement and guide new ways of working under a new structure.
