Job summary

The Department of Customer Service in NSW is seeking a Payroll Support Officer to join Government Shared Services. You will perform accurate payroll processing in line with awards and legislation, and respond to internal and external queries to ensure timely entitlements.

This is a full-time, hybrid role based in Parramatta with 2–3 days in the office each week (training is in-office for 4–6 weeks). The role offers ongoing flexibility after training and demands strong attention to detail and

  • Previous experience working in a large payroll team.
  • An understanding of Government awards.
  • A strong attention to detail.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Experience using MS Office products.
  • Previous experience using SAP and ServiceNow.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality payroll processing in compliance with award, taxation, legislative and audit requirements to facilitate the payment of current employee entitlements.
  • Provide quality customer service, internally in the department and externally to customers and stakeholders.
  • Manage day to day workloads to ensure completion of tasks within agreed timeframes.
  • Assist seniors and team leaders with complex requests as directed.

Payroll Support Officer

Clerk Grade: 3/4

Salary Range: Base salary starting at $84,659 - $92,701 plus superannuation

Employment Type: Multiple Full-Time, Ongoing work

Location: Parramatta - Hybrid opportunity. In-office requirement 2-3 days a week as a minimum, which could be subject to change based on applicable DCS workplace policies.

About the team

Government Shared Services (GSS) is a new division in DCS that is leading the way in streamlining processes and transactional shared services to allow our people to better focus on their customers and delivering their services. We are developing and delivering a roadmap to leverage technology, streamline processes, replace legacy systems and deliver a consistent experience to more than 100+ agencies across 8 NSW Government Departments.

What you will do

Salary Grade XX, with the base salary for this role starting at $87199 base plus superannuation
