Job summary

The Australian Broadcasting Corporation in Adelaide is seeking a Payroll Specialist to join the Payroll Services team on a 9-month fixed-term contract. This hands-on role covers day-to-day payroll delivery for a national workforce, including processing, reconciliations, superannuation and entitlements.

You'll interpret enterprise agreements, advise managers and employees, and support related payroll projects, ensuring timely, accurate payroll outcomes and strong stakeholder service.

Qualifications

About the Role

We’re looking for an experienced Payroll Specialist to join the ABC’s Payroll Services team in Adelaide on a 9-month contract.

Reporting to the Payroll Team Lead this is a hands‑on role where you’ll work across the day‑to‑day delivery of payroll for a complex national workforce, including payroll processing, reconciliations, termination payments, superannuation and employee entitlements.

You’ll also be a trusted point of contact for more complex payroll queries, interpreting enterprise agreement conditions and providing clear, practical advice to employees, managers and People & Culture teams.

About You

You’ll be an experienced payroll professional with strong technical knowledge and the ability to confidently work through complex payroll and entitlement matters. You’ll be highly accurate, organised and comfortable working to payroll deadlines, while providing a responsive and professional service to stakeholders.

You’ll bring

• Strong hands‑on payroll processing experience within a complex environment.
• Sound knowledge of Australian payroll legislation and employment conditions.
• Experience interpreting and applying awards and/or enterprise agreements.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Good Excel skills and confidence working across payroll and HR systems.
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative, service‑focused approach.

Experience using SAP in a payroll environment will be highly regarded.
