Job summary

Mecca Brands in Australia is seeking a detail‑driven Payroll Officer to join our Support Centre on a Fixed Term contract until the end of 2027. You’ll own end‑to‑end fortnightly payroll processing, ensuring staff are paid accurately and on time while maintaining data integrity and compliance.

Collaborating with People & Education and Finance, you’ll manage payroll variations, respond to queries, and support continuous improvement across processes and systems.

Qualifications

• At least 4 years of payroll experience
• Knowledge of PAYG, superannuation and applicable awards
• Ability to manage end-to-end payroll with high accuracy
• Experience with payroll software and intermediate Excel skills
• Retail payroll experience including GRIA awards advantageous
• Strong service orientation and problem-solving mindset

Responsibilities

• Deliver end-to-end fortnightly payroll processing with accuracy and timeliness
• Manage payroll variations including terminations, leave calculations and adjustments

Job description

The Role You Could Play

We're looking for a detail-oriented and service-driven Payroll Officer to join our Support Centre team on a Fixed Term contract until the end of 2027. In this role, you'll play a critical part in delivering a seamless, accurate and compliant payroll experience for every MECCA team member.

Working within a high-performing Payroll team, you'll take ownership of end-to-end payroll processing, ensuring team members are paid correctly and on time, every time. You'll collaborate closely with People & Education and Finance, helping maintain data integrity and supporting a positive team member experience, while also contributing to continuous improvement as MECCA continues to grow.

What You Will Be Doing

• Deliver end-to-end fortnightly payroll processing with accuracy and timeliness
• Manage payroll variations including terminations, leave calculations and adjustments
• Maintain payroll data integrity across systems, ensuring confidentiality and compliance
• Respond to payroll queries, providing clear, timely and stakeholder-focused support
• Contribute to process improvements, system enhancements and testing initiatives
• Collaborate with People & Education and Finance teams to ensure accurate data flow and payroll outcomes

What You Will Bring

• Minimum 4 years' experience in payroll, ideally in a high-volume environment
• Knowledge of payroll legislation including PAYG, superannuation and Awards
• Proven ability to manage end-to-end payroll processes with high accuracy
• Experience with payroll systems (e.g. Workday, HR3, UKG or similar) and intermediate Excel skills
• Retail industry experience highly desirableincluding knowledge of the GRIA awards
• Strong communication skills with a service-oriented and solutions-focused mindset
