Job summary

MECCA is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Officer to join our Support Centre on a Fixed Term contract until the end of 2027. You’ll own end-to-end payroll processing for our Melbourne-based team, ensuring accuracy, on-time payments and compliance with PAYG, superannuation and Awards.

Working with People & Education and Finance, you’ll maintain data integrity across systems (Workday/HR3/UKG), respond to payroll queries, and contribute to process improvements in a high-volume environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years’ experience in payroll in a high-volume environment.
• Knowledge of PAYG, superannuation and Awards legislation.
• Experience with payroll systems (Workday/HR3/UKG) and intermediate Excel skills.

Responsibilities

• Deliver end-to-end fortnightly payroll processing with accuracy and timeliness.
• Manage payroll variations including terminations, leave calculations and adjustments.
• Maintain payroll data integrity across systems, ensuring confidentiality and compliance.
• Respond to payroll queries with clear, timely stakeholder support.
• Contribute to process improvements, system enhancements and testing.

Job description

We’re looking for a detail-oriented and service-driven Payroll Officer to join our Support Centre team on a Fixed Term contract until the end of 2027. In this role, you’ll play a critical part in delivering a seamless, accurate and compliant payroll experience for every MECCA team member.

Working within a high-performing Payroll team, you’ll take ownership of end-to-end payroll processing, ensuring team members are paid correctly and on time, every time. You’ll collaborate closely with People & Education and Finance, helping maintain data integrity and supporting a positive team member experience, while also contributing to continuous improvement as MECCA continues to grow.

What You Will Be Doing

• Deliver end-to-end fortnightly payroll processing with accuracy and timeliness
• Manage payroll variations including terminations, leave calculations and adjustments
• Maintain payroll data integrity across systems, ensuring confidentiality and compliance
• Respond to payroll queries, providing clear, timely and stakeholder-focused support
• Contribute to process improvements, system enhancements and testing initiatives
• Collaborate with People & Education and Finance teams to ensure accurate data flow and payroll outcomes

What You Will Bring

• Minimum 4 years’ experience in payroll, ideally in a high-volume environment
• Knowledge of payroll legislation including PAYG, superannuation and Awards
• Proven ability to manage end-to-end payroll processes with high accuracy
• Experience with payroll systems (e.g. Workday, HR3, UKG or similar) and intermediate Excel skills
• Retail industry experience highly desirableincluding knowledge of the GRIA awards
• Strong communication skills with a service-oriented and solutions-focused mindset
