Job summary

NextSense is seeking a Payroll Officer to join the Finance Team in Sydney. The role is permanent full-time (38 hours per week) and onsite at the Macquarie Park Headquarters, reporting to the Payroll Manager. Start salary is A$102,000 plus super with 100% salary packaging to maximise take-home pay.

You will manage end-to-end payroll for 400+ staff, maintain records, ensure accuracy, and support payroll administration. Not-for-profit environment with generous leave and parental leave entitlements.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience with payroll preparation and processing in medium to large organisations.
  • Ability to interpret applicable Awards and enterprise agreements.
  • Strong discretion handling confidential employee information.

Responsibilities

  • End-to-end payroll processing using the iChris system.
  • Maintain accurate payroll records and timesheets.
  • Ensure wage payments comply with awards and contracts.
  • Handle new starts and terminations in the payroll system.
  • Collaborate with the Payroll Team to deliver timely payroll services.

Job description

This is a Permanent Full-Time opportunity (38 hours per week) reporting directly to the Payroll Managerand will work onsite at our Macquarie Park Headquarters.

Key duties and responsibilities:
  • End to end payroll processing using the ichris payroll system which inlude:
  • Administering salaries and wages, ensuring employees are paid accurately and in a timely manner each fortnight using the iChris payroll system.
  • Maintainingaccurate employee pay records, associated timesheets, leave records and related information within iChris to support the efficient administration of payroll.
  • Maintaining award data within iChris and ensure wage payments comply with applicable awards, relevant agreements and common law contracts.
  • Processing employee commencements and ensure new employees are accurately and appropriately set up in the iChris payroll system.
  • Processing employee terminations and final pay calculations in accordance with organisational requirements and relevant legislatio
  • Supporting payroll administration for an organisation with a typical employee headcount of 400+.
  • Assisting the Payroll Team with payroll-related tasks and duties as required, including maintaining and updating payroll information within iChris
  • Working collaboratively with other team members to ensure the effective and timely delivery of payroll services.
  • Following workplace health and safety programs and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for self and others.
  • Performing any other reasonable duties as required or assigned by your manager.
About You:
  • Demonstrated experience and sound working knowledge of payroll preparation and processing, preferably within a medium to large organisation.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience using the iChris payroll system, including processing payroll, maintaining employee records, processing commencements and terminations, and managing payroll-related information.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply relevant Awards, Determinations, Enterprise Agreements and other employment conditions.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential payroll information and sensitive employee matters with discretion and professionalism.
  • High level of communication and interpersonal skills, with a strong customer service focus and commitment to delivering timely and responsive payroll support.
  • Strong computer literacy, including intermediate skills in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to plan, prioritise and manage competing deadlines effectively.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy, particularly when processing payroll and maintaining employee records.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet strict payroll deadlines and work effectively under time constraints
  • Strong collaboration and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues and stakeholders
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate payroll-related information clearly and professionally.
  • Ability and willingness to become familiar with and comply with applicable child protection policies, procedures and legislation, as amended from time to time.
