Job summary

Randstad partners with a large mining employer in Brisbane to recruit a Payroll Officer for a permanent role. The position offers a hybrid setup with 1 day work from home, a $87K+ Super package, and an inner-suburbs location with easy public transport access.

Reporting to the Payroll Lead, you will manage time/attendance data, process bi-weekly payroll, maintain records, review journals, ensure EA/Award compliance, and handle payroll queries across HR and management.

Qualifications

• 12+ months experience in a payroll position in a medium to high-volume environment.
• Experience using a payroll system.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Exceptional attention to detail and numerical accuracy.
• Full and unlimited Australian working rights.

Responsibilities

• Import and analyse time and attendance data from sites.
• Ensure timely and accurate processing of fortnightly payroll including off-cycle pays.
• Maintain employee records in line with instructions.
• Review pay journals and reports for accurate payments.
• Understand EA and Award provisions to ensure compliance.
• Resolve payroll queries from HR, managers and employees promptly.
• Follow payroll processes and identify improvement opportunities.

About the role

Reporting into the Payroll Lead and working in a team environment, your duties will include:

• Importing and analysing time and attendance data received from sites
• Ensuring the timely and accurate processing of fortnightly payroll, including any off-cycle pays
• Maintaining employee records in line with instructions
• Reviewing pay journals and reports to confirm accurate payments to employees
• Understanding and interpreting Enterprise Agreements (EA) and Award provisions to ensure compliance
• Resolving payroll-related queries from HR, line managers and employees in a timely manner
• Following established payroll processes and identifying improvement opportunities

About you

• 12+ months experience in a payroll position - ideally in a medium to high volume environment
• Experience using a payroll system
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Exceptional attention to detail and high level of numerical accuracy
• Full and unlimited Australian working rights

Qualification

• Previous experience in a similar role
