Job summary

Lovisa is seeking a Payroll Officer to join our Payroll Operations team in Melbourne. You will oversee end-to-end processing of NZ payroll across our dynamic retail business, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely pay cycles.

You'll collaborate with stores, managers and HR to resolve payroll inquiries, maintain records, and support month-end activities. The role suits detail-oriented payroll professionals who thrive in high-volume environments.

Qualifications

• 2-3 years' payroll experience, ideally with New Zealand payroll exposure.
• End-to-end payroll processing experience within a medium to large organisation.
• Strong understanding of payroll legislation, taxation, leave entitlements, and statutory obligations.
• Excellent attention to detail and data accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Processing payroll in line with New Zealand legislative requirements and company policies.
• Setting up new employees and maintaining payroll and time & attendance records.
• Processing employment changes, salary increases, terminations, and back pays.
• Managing payroll enquiries and providing outstanding support to employees and leaders.
• Preparing payroll reporting and supporting month-end activities, reconciliations, and payroll journals.
• Assisting with payroll audits and compliance requirements.
• Maintaining payroll documentation and process guides.
• Supporting continuous improvement initiatives and system enhancements.

About The Role

As our Payroll Officer, you'll be responsible for the end-to-end processing of New Zealand payroll across our dynamic retail business. You'll work closely with stores, managers, and internal stakeholders to ensure payroll is delivered accurately and efficiently every pay cycle.

Your Responsibilities Will Include

• Processing payroll in line with New Zealand legislative requirements and company policies
• Setting up new employees and maintaining payroll and time & attendance records

About you:

You'll be a detail-oriented payroll professional who enjoys working in a high-volume environment and takes ownership of delivering accurate outcomes.

To Succeed In This Role, You'll Have

• 2-3 years' payroll experience, ideally with New Zealand payroll exposure
• End-to-end payroll processing experience within a medium to large organisation
• Strong understanding of payroll legislation, taxation, leave entitlements, and statutory obligations
• Excellent attention to detail and data accuracy
• Intermediate Excel skills and confidence analysing payroll data
• Strong communication and customer service skills
• The ability to prioritise competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• A proactive, solutions-focused approach

• Experience using UKG or other Time & Attendance systems
