About the Role

We’re looking for a detail-oriented Accounting Assistant to join our Financial Reporting team at our Preston Head Office. Reporting to the Financial Reporting Lead, this role plays a key part in supporting payroll tax compliance across all Australian states and territories, alongside general finance and reporting activities.

What You’ll Be Doing

Payroll Tax Compliance

• Support the end-to-end payroll tax compliance process across all Australian jurisdictions
• Assist with monthly, quarterly and annual payroll tax lodgements
• Prepare payroll tax calculations, including grouping provisions, contractor payments and fringe benefits
• Reconcile payroll data in collaboration with Payroll and Tax teams
• Assist with payroll tax audits and queries from state revenue authorities
• Maintain payroll tax documentation, checklists and internal controls

General Finance Support

• Perform month-end reconciliations for subsidiaries and resolve discrepancies
• Assist with financial analysis, reporting packs and data gathering
• Support journal entries, system updates and reporting processes
• Assist with other compliance matters, including BAS lodgements
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the finance function

What We’re Looking For

• Experience in a finance support role within a corporate or professional services environment
• Exposure to payroll tax compliance and/or multi-state reporting (highly regarded)
• Strong reconciliation skills and understanding of accounting principles
• High attention to detail with the ability to manage deadlines
• Confident communicator who builds strong working relationships
• Comfortable working in a structured, process-driven environment
