  • Supporting and developing the existing team, including performance management, coaching and mentoring
  • Identifying opportunities to improve processes, systems and efficiencies across the payroll function
  • Building strong relationships with existing clients and helping to develop the service further
  • Identifying opportunities to grow the payroll client base and increase fee income
  • Working closely with colleagues across the wider practice to identify opportunities for service development and cross-referral
  • Keeping up to date with changes in payroll legislation and ensuring the team operates in line with current requirements
What you will need to succeed as a Payroll Manager
  • Significant experience within payroll, ideally gained within an accountancy practice or payroll bureau environment
  • Previous experience managing and developing a payroll team
  • Strong technical knowledge of UK payroll legislation and processes
  • Experience managing a sizeable portfolio of payroll clients
  • Relevant payroll qualifications, with CIPP or equivalent qualifications highly desirable
  • Excellent attention to detail and a strong focus on accuracy
  • Strong communication and client relationship management skills
  • The confidence to identify and implement improvements to existing processes
  • A commercial mindset and an interest in developing and growing a payroll service
  • The ability to work autonomously while also working effectively with the wider practice
Why join this firm?
  • Competitive salary based on experience
  • Hybrid working
  • A varied portfolio of clients
  • Increased responsibility and client exposure
  • Opportunity to develop leadership and people management skills
  • Ongoing training and professional development
