PRO-TAX RECRUITMENT LIMITED is seeking an experienced Audit Manager in Liverpool to lead audit assignments from planning through completion, coordinating with senior managers and directors to deliver high-quality service.

The role requires ACA/ACCA (or equivalent) and proven experience managing audit engagements, with strong client relationship skills and up-to-date knowledge of UK standards and regulations. Flexible working and career development are offered.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage audit assignments, ensuring projects are delivered on time and to a high standard.
• Act as the main point of contact for clients throughout audit engagements, maintaining relationships.
• Supervise and mentor junior team members, providing guidance and feedback.
• Prepare engagement budgets, monitor progress and address variances.
• Manage billing processes to ensure engagements are commercially effective.
• Ensure compliance with auditing and accounting standards across assignments.
• Collaborate with directors to meet client expectations and departmental objectives.

Audit Manager

Location: Liverpool

Salary: £56,000 - £65,000

An established and highly respected independent firm of chartered accountants and business advisors is seeking an experienced Audit Manager to join its growing team. With a strong reputation for delivering tailored advice and exceptional client service, the firm offers a collaborative environment where employees are supported to develop their careers while working with a diverse portfolio of clients.

The successful candidate will take ownership of audit assignments from planning through to completion, working closely with senior managers and directors to deliver a high-quality service. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced audit professional who enjoys managing client relationships, leading teams, and delivering technically strong audit engagements.

What you will be doing as an Audit Manager

• Lead and manage audit assignments, ensuring projects are delivered on time and to a high standard.
• Act as the main point of contact for clients throughout audit engagements, responding to queries and maintaining strong working relationships.
• Supervise, mentor and review the work of junior team members, providing regular guidance and constructive feedback.
• Prepare engagement budgets, monitor progress against targets and proactively address any variances.
• Manage billing processes by monitoring time and resources to ensure engagements remain commercially effective.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant auditing and accounting standards throughout each assignment.
• Promote a positive, collaborative team culture and support the resolution of day-to-day people matters where appropriate.
• Work closely with directors to ensure client expectations are met and departmental objectives are achieved.
• Complete administrative and ad hoc tasks to support the efficient delivery of audit engagements.

What you will need to succeed as an Audit Manager

• ACA, ACCA or an equivalent professional accounting qualification.
• Previous experience managing audit and accounts assignments within an accountancy practice.
• A strong understanding of audit quality, regulatory requirements and risk management.
• Excellent client relationship management and communication skills.
• Proven experience leading, mentoring and developing junior team members.
• Up-to-date knowledge of UK accounting and auditing standards, including FRS and IFRS.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues and recommend practical solutions.
• Experience using CCH and/or Inflo would be advantageous, although full training will be provided.
