Job summary

Nandal Pty Ltd in Perth metropolitan area is seeking a permanent, full-time Paving Plant Operator to support landscaping and paving projects at Seville Grove and other sites. You will operate paving plant and mobile equipment, spreading and finishing paving materials to project specifications.

Ideal candidates have AQF Cert II/III or relevant experience, at least one year operating paving equipment, and appropriate licenses.

Qualifications

• AQF Certificate II or III in Civil Construction, Mobile Plant Operations, Construction or related field or relevant industry experience.
• At least one year of relevant full-time experience operating paving plant, mobile plant or similar equipment in paving, civil construction, landscaping or related works.
• Licence, competency or verification required for operation of applicable mobile plant and equipment.
• Good understanding of paving, concrete placement, surface preparation and finishing processes.

Responsibilities

• Operate paving plant and associated mobile equipment to spread, distribute and level paving materials.
• Assist with surface preparation, grading, compaction and readiness for paving or concrete placement.
• Spread and level hot bituminous paving materials, concrete and other surfacing materials per project requirements.
• Operate plant to achieve required depth, alignment, level, slope and finish of paved or concrete surfaces.
• Monitor material consistency and adjust plant controls as needed.
• Follow site drawings, levels and measurements to ensure conformity with dimensions and grades.
• Coordinate paving and site activities with supervisors and trades.
• Monitor and report mechanical faults or maintenance needs promptly.
• Carry out inspections of plant and equipment and document defects.
• Perform routine cleaning, lubrication and basic maintenance of paving plant as required.
• Follow traffic management plans and safety rules when operating near workers and traffic.
• Set out work areas and check levels using measurements and site information.
• Maintain records related to plant operation, work completed and equipment usage.
• Keep the work area safe, tidy and compliant with environmental requirements.

Our client, Nandal Pty Ltd, is a leading landscaping, gardening, patio and turf supplies business operating across Perth and surrounding areas. The business provides landscaping solutions to residential and commercial clients and specialises in landscaping, earthworks, paving, artificial grass installation and the supply of quality landscaping materials. Nandal Pty Ltd undertakes a range of paving and site development activities as part of its landscaping and construction-related services. These works require the efficient operation of paving plant and associated equipment to prepare, spread, level and finish paving materials and concrete in accordance with project specifications and site requirements.

Requirements

Key responsibilities are set out below

• Operate paving plant and associated mobile equipment to spread, distribute and level paving materials across designated areas.
• Assist with the preparation of surfaces, including ensuring areas are suitably graded, compacted and ready for paving or concrete placement.
• Spread and level hot bituminous paving materials, concrete and other approved surfacing materials in accordance with project requirements.
• Operate plant to achieve the required depth, alignment, level, slope and finish of paved or concrete surfaces.
• Monitor the consistency, distribution and placement of paving materials during operations and make appropriate adjustments to plant controls.
• Follow site drawings, levels, measurements and instructions to ensure paving works conform to specified dimensions and grades.
• Work closely with supervisors, tradespeople, labourers and other plant operators to coordinate paving and associated site activities.
• Monitor the condition and performance of paving plant and report mechanical faults, defects or maintenance requirements promptly.
• Conduct pre-start, operational and post-operation inspections of plant and equipment and ensure defects are reported and recorded.
• Carry out routine cleaning, lubrication and basic maintenance of paving plant and associated equipment as required and within the operator's competency.
• Follow traffic management plans, exclusion zones, site procedures and safety requirements when operating plant around workers, vehicles and the public.
• Assist with setting out work areas and checking levels and alignment using appropriate measurements and site information.
• Maintain accurate records relating to plant operation, work completed, equipment usage, materials and maintenance where required.
• Maintain the work area in a safe and orderly condition and comply with environmental and waste-management requirements.

Ideal candidate will have

• Demonstrated experience operating paving plant or other relevant mobile plant in paving, civil construction, landscaping or related works.
• Strong understanding of paving and surfacing operations, including spreading, levelling and finishing materials.
• Ability to read and follow site plans, drawings, levels, measurements and work instructions.
• Knowledge of workplace health and safety requirements applicable to construction, paving and mobile plant operations.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Ability to work effectively outdoors in varying weather and site conditions.
• Physical capacity to work on active construction and landscaping sites and perform associated operational duties.
