Job summary

Mater Central Queensland - Rockhampton is seeking a dedicated Patient Flow Manager to lead hospital-wide bed utilisation, discharge planning and workforce planning. This permanent, full-time role requires strong clinical leadership, operational oversight and staffing management to support efficient patient flow within the hospital.

Qualifications

• Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse.
• Postgraduate qualifications in management or a related discipline (desirable).
• Minimum of 5 years’ recent experience in a senior clinical management role.
• Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and engage multidisciplinary clinical teams.
• Strong experience in workforce planning, staffing models, and bed management.
• Proven understanding of private health sector funding models.

Responsibilities

• Lead hospital-wide bed utilisation to support efficient patient flow.
• Coordinate discharge planning and multidisciplinary collaboration.
• Recruit, allocate, and retain casual staff to meet clinical demands.
• Collaborate with Nursing Unit Managers, HR and Executives on staffing and operational pressures.
• Ensure staffing and bed practices meet legislation, standards and policies.
• Support cost monitoring and adherence to patient care budgets for sustainability.
• Contribute to strategic planning, quality improvement and accreditation readiness.
• Provide leadership and professional development for staff and succession planning.
