Job summary

Mater Private Hospital Bundaberg is seeking a dedicated and experienced Patient Flow Manager to join our team in a permanent, full‑time capacity. This leadership role oversees bed utilisation, discharge planning and casual staffing to optimise patient flow.

You will work with Management and Executive teams to align staffing with clinical demand, manage length of stay, ensure compliance with standards, and contribute to strategic planning while leading multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse.
• Postgraduate qualifications in management desirable.
• Minimum of 5 years’ recent experience in a senior clinical management role.
• Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary clinical teams.
• Experience in workforce planning, staffing models, and bed management.
• Understanding of private health sector funding models.
• Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
• High level of digital and computer literacy.
• Commitment to professional development, accountability, and upholding organisational values and standards.

Responsibilities

• Leading hospital-wide bed utilisation to support efficient patient flow.
• Coordinate discharge planning to manage length of stay.
• Manage casual staffing recruitment, allocation, retention, and workforce planning.
• Collaborate with Nursing Unit Managers, Support Services, After Hours Coordinators, HR and Executive teams.
• Ensure staffing and bed management practices meet legislation, standards and policies.
• Support financial sustainability through resource allocation and budgets.
• Contribute to strategic and operational planning, quality improvement and accreditation readiness.
• Provide strong people leadership, recruitment, performance management and succession planning.
• Maintain a safe workplace culture focused on zero harm for staff and patients.
• Build collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
