Sullivan Nicolaides Pathology is seeking a Pathology Services Assistant / Courier in Grafton to support pre-analytical duties and specimen transport. You will handle specimens, operate LIS entries, and coordinate courier tasks to ensure timely, accurate delivery across collection centres and the laboratory.

You will join a team focused on quality, safety, and patient care, with structured training and clear progression opportunities within SNP and the Sonic Healthcare network.

Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, professional service to patients and clinicians.
• Deliver excellent customer service to doctors, SNP collection centres, and internal teams.
• Manage incoming calls, bookings and inquiries.
• Receive, unpack, and process pathology specimens.
• Perform pre-analytical procedures including centrifuging and aliquoting.
• Register data into the Laboratory Information System (LIS).
• Coordinate urgent collections using our dispatch system.
• Dispatch specimens with proper documentation and safe transport.

Job description

Join one of Queensland’s leading pathology providers and play a vital role in the journey of every specimen. We are seeking a reliable and motivated Pathology Services Assistant / Courier to join our Grafton Preanalytical Team.

This is a hands-on, dual-role position, combining laboratory pre-analytical duties with specimen pick up and transport. You’ll be a crucial link between collection centres, medical practices, and the laboratory ensuring specimens are handled, processed, and delivered accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

Provide compassionate, professional service to patients, clinicians, collection staff, and colleagues

Deliver excellent customer service to doctors’ surgeries, SNP collection centres, and internal teams

Manage incoming phone calls, appointment bookings and enquiries

Specimen Handling & Pre-Analytical Processing

Receive, unpack, receipt, prepare, and process pathology specimens

Perform pre-analytical procedures including centrifuging and aliquoting

Register and accurately enter specimen data into the Laboratory Information System (LIS)

Maintain precision and attention to detail in all documentation and data entry

Ensure accuracy and compliance with quality and safety standards

Courier & Dispatch Duties

Perform scheduled and urgent specimen pick-ups from surgeries and SNP collection centres

Prepare specimens for safe transport and dispatch

Dispatch specimens using an online consignment application

Accurately complete run sheets and transport documentation

Safely lift and carry eskies as part of specimen transport requirements

Operational Support

Coordinate urgent collections using a computer-aided dispatch system

Contribute to team goals and support a professional, collaborative work environment
