Job summary

Healius is seeking a Laboratory Assistant to support specimen reception and processing in our pathology laboratory. You will register, handle and dispatch specimens, maintaining accuracy and timeliness in a fast-paced environment.

This permanent part-time role involves 38 hours per fortnight with shifts from 11:00 to 19:30, Monday to Friday. There are opportunities for training, quality activities and career progression within our pathology services.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a laboratory is desirable but not essential
• Certificate in pathology and/or certificate/diploma in laboratory skills/techniques (or equivalent) is desirable but not essential
• Background in healthcare, data entry or roles requiring high levels of accuracy and attention to detail is highly regarded

Responsibilities

• Receive, check and process specimens with a high level of accuracy
• Complete data entry and registration of specimens into laboratory systems
• Prepare and dispatch specimens to core laboratories within required timeframes
• Manage enquiries via phone and shared mailboxes, escalating where required
• Coordinate urgent specimen handling and courier collections
• Maintain laboratory records, storage and filing processes
• Participate in routine quality activities and follow laboratory procedures
• Ensure compliance with WHS policies and maintain a safe working environment
