Job summary

Healius Limited in Victoria is seeking a Laboratory Assistant to accurately process pathology specimens in specimen reception, registering and dispatching for testing to support reliable results. This permanent part-time role (38 hours per fortnight, 11:00–19:30, Monday to Friday) offers structured training, supportive leaders and a collaborative team, with opportunities to develop skills in pathology.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a laboratory is desirable but not essential
• A certificate in pathology and/or a certificate or diploma in laboratory skills/techniques (or equivalent) is desirable but not essential
• A background in healthcare, data entry or roles requiring high levels of accuracy and attention to detail is highly regarded

Responsibilities

• Receive, check and process specimens with high accuracy
• Complete data entry and registration of specimens into laboratory systems
• Prepare and dispatch specimens to core laboratories within required timeframes
• Manage enquiries via phone and shared mailboxes, escalating where required
• Coordinate urgent specimen handling and courier collections
• Maintain laboratory records, storage and filing processes
• Participate in routine quality activities and follow laboratory procedures
• Ensure compliance with WHS policies and maintain a safe working environment
