Job summary

Opal HealthCare in Dubbo is seeking a dedicated Sous Chef to be second-in-command in our kitchen, supporting our Head Chef in delivering an outstanding dining experience for our residents at Dubbo Homestead Care Community.

You will lead kitchen operations, prepare nutritious meals, ensure food safety, and step in as Head Chef when needed. We offer competitive hourly rate with penalties and superannuation, plus a supportive, values-led environment.

Qualifications

• Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery or equivalent experience.
• Experience as a Chef with supervisory or leadership exposure.
• Food Safety Supervisor Certificate (or willingness to obtain).
• Pre-employment medical, Police check and NDIS Worker Screening Check required.

Responsibilities

• Support the Head Chef in leading the kitchen team and managing daily operations.
• Prepare and cook nutritious, high-quality meals that meet resident dietary needs and preferences.
• Help maintain food safety, kitchen hygiene, and compliance.
• Step up and lead the kitchen in the absence of the Head Chef.
• Contribute to creating a dining experience that brings joy to our residents.
