Job summary

The Tasman, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Hobart, seeks a reliable Kitchen Steward to join the culinary team. You will maintain a clean, safe kitchen environment and support chefs to ensure smooth service.

Responsibilities include dishwashing, equipment cleaning, waste handling, and maintaining hygiene standards across back‑of‑house areas. Prior stewarding or hospitality experience is preferred, with flexibility to work early mornings and weekends.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a stewarding, kitchen hand, or hospitality role is preferred.
• Understanding of food safety, hygiene, and safe work practices.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
• Strong work ethic with a proactive and reliable attitude.
• Full working rights in Australia.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the cleanliness and organisation of all kitchen, stewarding, and back-of-house areas.
• Operate commercial dishwashing equipment to clean crockery, cutlery, glassware, kitchen utensils, and cooking equipment.
• Ensure kitchen equipment is cleaned, sanitised, and stored correctly.
• Assist with the removal of rubbish, recycling, and waste in accordance with hotel procedures.
• Support chefs with basic kitchen cleaning and operational tasks as required.
• Ensure adequate stock of clean kitchen equipment is available throughout service periods.
• Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene, and workplace cleanliness in line with hotel policies.
• Safely handle cleaning chemicals and equipment in accordance with WHS guidelines.
• Assist with receiving and storing deliveries when required.
• Contribute to a positive, professional, and team-focused working environment.
