Job summary

The Hills Shire Council invites applications for a Library Shelving Officer to maintain accurate shelving in strict alphabetical and numerical order within our Library Services. The role demands careful attention to detail and a commitment to tidy, correctly shelved collections.

Part-time hours with weekly pay are offered, along with opportunities for training and staff wellbeing initiatives. A valid Working with Children Check is required to protect our community and support safe libraries.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of the Dewey Decimal Classification system.
• A valid Working with Children Check.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced library environment.

Responsibilities

• Shelve items correctly in strict numerical/alphabetical order according to classification systems.
• Remove damaged items and hand over to Shift Supervisor.
• Re-shelve books that are out of order and ensure neat rows at all times.
• Process items to ensure items are shelved at the edges for tidy rows.
• Check for special displays and assist with display planning.
