Job summary

ELTHAM EAST PRIMARY SCHOOL seeks a Japanese language teacher for a 0.4 position (two days per week). The role may be filled as full-time or two part-time positions. The school emphasizes literacy, numeracy and high-quality instruction, with strong collaboration among staff and families.

The successful candidate will plan and teach Prep–Year 6 Japanese, use data to guide teaching and contribute to school improvement initiatives, while engaging with the diverse school community.

Qualifications

• Proven knowledge of the curriculum and ability to teach literacy and numeracy.
• Experience planning and implementing high-impact teaching strategies.
• Experience monitoring and assessing student learning and using data to inform practice.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with students, parents and staff.
• Commitment to department values and ongoing professional learning.
• Capacity to plan and teach Prep–Year 6 Japanese language.

Responsibilities

• Direct teaching of groups and individuals.
• Contribute to curriculum development and evaluation within the school.
• Undertake duties as directed by the principal.
• Participate in parent/teacher meetings and school activities.
• Supervise and support student teachers where required.
