Job summary

Trinity Bay State High School in Cairns is seeking an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Teacher Aide (Identified) to support the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander English as an Additional Language (EAL) Program. This unique opportunity works with students in Years 7–12, including boarders from remote communities, across five days.

The role provides 25 hours per week plus 12.5% SJM hours and involves assisting with literacy, numeracy and classroom activities under the direction of the Head

Qualifications

• Experience supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students in classroom settings.
• Ability to assist with literacy and numeracy development in small groups.
• Commitment to inclusive education and student wellbeing.

Responsibilities

• Provide literacy and numeracy support to individual students and small groups.
• Support teachers and students with sporting activities, excursions, and in-class activities as directed.
• Maintain anecdotal student records and assist with reference materials and scholarships applications.
• Promote positive relationships with students, families and the community while maintaining confidentiality.
• Support activities that promote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Histories and Cultures.
