Job summary

Merri-bek City Council is seeking an experienced Financial Accountant to support community-facing financial operations. The role requires strong knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and public sector experience, with a CPA/CA qualification and excellent communication skills.

The position is part-time, 0.8 FTE, based in Melbourne with hybrid working arrangements. Experience with TechOne, NAV and Magiq is preferred, and there are strong opportunities for professional development and staff

Qualifications

• Knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and their application in local government.
• CPA Australia or Institute of Chartered Accountants membership.
• Ability to develop and implement organisational financial policies and regulations.
• Strong administrative and organisational skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to interpret policies, procedures and compliance requirements.
• Well-developed written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to build and maintain effective relationships.
