Council is seeking a Financial Accountant to support financial integrity, reporting and compliance within a collaborative finance team. You will ensure accurate financial reporting, GL integrity, and grant/asset accounting while advising stakeholders and strengthening financial controls.

The role offers permanent full-time employment with hybrid work after probation, flexible hours and a focus on professional development.

Competenze

• Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Commerce, Business, or a related discipline.
• Experience in an Assistant Accountant, Financial Accountant, or similar accounting role.
• Sound knowledge of financial accounting principles, reporting requirements, and compliance obligations.
• Experience administering grants and accounting for grant income and expenditure (AASB 1058 and AASB 15).
• Experience in fixed asset accounting (capitalisation, depreciation, disposals, asset reporting).
• Strong organisational and time management skills.
• Well-developed verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and current accounting standards knowledge.
• Knowledge of Office of Local Government reporting requirements and local government legislation.

Mansioni

• Prepare and maintain accurate financial records and reporting per legislation, standards, and Council policies.
• Perform general ledger reconciliations and ensure data integrity.
• Assist with monthly, annual and statutory reporting including financial statements.
• Monitor and reconcile grants register to ensure compliance with funding agreements.
• Support fixed asset accounting including capitalisation, depreciation, disposals and asset reporting.
• Review capital project expenditure and work-in-progress balances for capitalisation and closure.
• Provide financial advice and recommendations to management and stakeholders.
• Contribute to finance policy development and internal controls.
• Assist with internal and external audit activities and respond to audit requests and findings.
• Provide support across banking, receipting and reconciliations as required.
