Job summary

Department of Education Victoria – Shepparton VIC hosts the Shepparton English Language Centre (SELC). The EAL Teacher will deliver intensive English tuition to New Arrival students in government schools and support curriculum development at SELC.

The role involves collaborating with the Co-ordinator at Hayes St Campus and visiting outlying schools, with duties including welfare support and activity organisation. Hours per week are 22.8 with 0.6 EFT.

Qualifications

• An EAL/ESL/TESOL qualification recognised by the Victorian Institute of Teaching is preferred.
• Classroom teaching experience in EAL at primary or secondary levels is preferred.
• Experience in teaching within Australian schools and diverse communities is valuable.

Responsibilities

• Deliver quality EAL tuition to New Arrival students in government primary and secondary schools.
• Employ flexible and adaptive EAL teaching methods to support language development.
• Provide a stimulating learning environment for New Arrivals students.
• Develop and maintain EAL resources and contribute to SELC curriculum planning.
• Coordinate with SELC Co-ordinator and school Principals for program delivery.
• Attend staff meetings and participate in ongoing professional development.
