Job summary

Catholic Education - Diocese of Rockhampton seeks a part-time College Counsellor to support Emmaus College students in Rockhampton. The role focuses on student wellbeing, providing one-on-one and small-group counselling and collaborating with staff to implement personalised intervention plans.

The position runs 22.5 hours per week starting 18 January 2027, with a salary range of AUD 89,303–131,626 plus 12.75% superannuation pro-rata for 0.6 FTE.

Qualifications

• Minimum required qualifications are a relevant 4-year undergraduate degree from the disciplines of Social Work, Psychology or B Education + Masters Guidance & Counselling.
• A current valid Blue Card under WWC Act and Suitability Notice is required.
• Undertake Student Protection Training and Workplace Health & Safety Training.
• Ability to perform the physical requirements of the role in a safe manner.

Responsibilities

• Prepare for individual counselling sessions via assessment and intervention planning.
• Plan and provide small group interventions for students relevant to need.
• Assist parents with appropriate referrals for their child.
• Provide counselling support and crisis interventions as required.
• Collaborate with staff to implement individual intervention plans (e.g., NCCD).
• Provide information for staff to present sessions and programs to students.
• Liaise with external agencies to support students and families.
