Job summary

City of Moreton Bay is seeking a hands-on Labourer to support the Parks Infrastructure team in Margate. You will perform general labouring duties to maintain parks and assets, under a Crew Leader, and engage with stakeholders as needed.

Ideal candidates have recent manual labour experience, a current MR licence and a Construction Induction Card, with strong teamwork and safety focus. A 12% superannuation top-up applies, with a 9-day fortnight schedule.

  • Current MR truck licence is required.
  • Construction Induction Card (White/Blue Card) is required or in progress.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Undertake general labouring duties to maintain park infrastructure.
  • Assist with upkeep of playgrounds, park furniture, shelters, fences and related assets.
  • Work under supervision to support a Crew Leader and collaborate with other Council teams.
  • Ensure safety, quality and presentation of assets across community parks.

Job description

  • Permanent Full Time | 9 day fortnight |76 hour fortnight
  • This team currently works full time hours over 4 days/week - Tuesday to Friday 6:00am to 4:00pm. 12 month trial
  • $74,199 pa (ie. $37.55/hour) - incl. industry and uniform allowance + 12% super (level 3)
  • Location: Margate

Work within our Parks Infrastructure team and help maintain the community's park infrastructure. Alongside an experienced Crew Leader, you'll support the upkeep of Council's recreational assets. Your primary responsibility will be undertaking general labouring duties to help ensure your designated park areas and infrastructure assets remain safe, functional and well presented.

You’ll be involved in maintaining various types of infrastructure including:

  • playgrounds
  • park furniture
  • shelters and shade sails
  • concrete areas
  • fences and bollards
  • retaining walls

This hands on position offers a variety of work and the opportunity to see the results of your efforts across community parks and recreational assets. You'll be engaging with stakeholders from other teams within Council and even members of the public at times - so effective communication and a positive attitude towards teamwork is a must!

Your work will directly contribute to the upkeep of our park infrastructure, making a tangible difference in our community's recreational spaces.

Ideally you will have recent experience performing labouring tasks related to the construction or maintenance of similar infrastructure assets. We are seeking applicants who demonstrate:

  • knowledge and physical capability to perform manual tasks safely
  • recent experience in a manual position
  • experience maintaining park infrastructure or undertaking similar maintenance activities (highly desirable)
  • strong communication skills and a team oriented mindset

In addition to these skills and experience, successful candidates must possess:

  • a current truck licence (minimum class - MR - medium rigid)
  • Construction Induction Card
