  • This team currently works full time hours over 4 days/week - Tuesday to Friday 6:00am to 4:00pm. 12 month trial.

  • $78,197 pa (ie. $39.57/hour) - incl. industry and uniform allowance + 12% super (level 6)

  • Please note, progression in remuneration (up to Level 8) is available for this position upon meeting performance and training requirements outlined in a structured crew leader framework.

  • Location: Narangba

As a Crew Leader working within the Roads and Drains team, you'll work alongside a labourer to undertake assigned maintenance tasks on Council's civil infrastructure assets. You’ll also take the lead in identifying and allocating the materials required to complete works, as well as identifying asset defects and implementing practical maintenance solutions.

Your primary responsibility will be to help ensure your designated area remains safe, tidy and well maintained, supporting both planned and reactive maintenance activities across the road and drainage network.

Some of the tasks include:

  • pathway and footpath repairs and replacements, including concrete areas

  • kerb and channel repairs, including lintels and stormwater grates

  • replacing and maintaining manholes, covers, pits and catch pits

  • undertaking stormwater network maintenance, including pipes, headwalls and open drains

  • clearing and maintaining open drains and drainage infrastructure

  • installing, repairing and replacing road signs

  • repairing traffic islands and associated defects

The role involves using Council systems to manage work orders, complete basic administrative tasks and maintain records of completed works. You’ll also be responsible for ensuring plant and equipment are used and maintained in line with safety and operational requirements, while supporting safe work practices across the team.

Hands on involvement and leadership capabilities will be key to effectively maintaining the safety and functionality of our community’s infrastructure.

Ideally your application has demonstrated recent, hands on experience in civil infrastructure maintenance or construction - with some experience taking the lead on jobs and coordinating day to day activities.

You’ll bring strong communication skills for effective interaction with both internal and external stakeholders, the ability to safely perform manual tasks and confidence to use and learn Council systems and relevant technology (we currently use TechOne)

Paired with the above, you’ll also be required to hold:

  • a current truck licence (minimum MR - medium rigid)

  • a Construction Induction card and;

  • a Traffic Management Implementation licence and a high risk work dogging (HRW DG) licence (or willingness to obtain within 6 months of commencement)

Holding a Certificate III in Civil Construction or a similar qualification in a relevant field is highly desirable. Please note: this qualification is required to advance through the Crew Leader Framework.
