Job summary

Workskills Tasmania is seeking a Part-time Parent Pathways Mentor to deliver the Parent Pathways Program in Southern Tasmania. You will engage parents, provide guidance, and support upskilling for study or work.

The ideal candidate has experience in Employment or Community Services, strong interpersonal skills, and a qualification in Youth Work, Community Services, Employment Services, or related field, with a Tasmanian Driver’s Licence.

Responsibilities

• Deliver the Parent Pathways Program in Southern Tasmania.
• Collaborate with the Parent Pathways Manager and Senior Mentors to ensure program success.

The opportunity

Part-time – 3 days per week

We are looking for an energetic individual with a strong passion for supporting and motivating others to succeed and reach their full potential. As a Parent Pathways Mentor, you will work closely with and assist the Parent Pathways Manager and Parent Pathways Senior Mentors to deliver the Parent Pathways Program to eligible participants in Southern Tasmania.

You will be instrumental in the engagement of parents, offering support and guidance in order to upskill and empower them to prepare for study or work.

Our ideal candidate will bring proven experience in Employment or Community Services, complemented by strong local referral networks, exceptional interpersonal skills, and a track record of achieving positive social outcomes for individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds. Candidates will hold, or be actively working towards, a Certificate III or IV qualification in Youth Work, Community Services or Community Welfare, Employment Services, or another relevant area of study.

• Your ability to communicate with confidence, calmness and empathy
• An understanding of the barriers faced by Parents who are returning to work
• The ability to professionally engage with community stakeholders and established local networks
• Empowering case management skills, and experience working with people with diverse backgrounds and varying degrees of disadvantage
• The ability to negotiate, problem solve and resolve conflict
• Proven experience as an enthusiastic team player
• The ability to prioritise competing demands and remainorganised under pressure
• Strong administrationand computer skills
• Certificate III or IV level qualification in Community Services, Youth Work, Employment Services, Mental Health, or another relevant qualification in the field (or working towards).
• Acurrent Tasmanian Drivers' Licence
