Job summary

Youth Projects is seeking an In-Work Support Mentor to help young people stay connected to employment and work closely with employers during early placement stages.

You will provide tailored post-placement mentoring, support communication between employer and employee, and address barriers to sustain employment. A key focus is building relationships, maintaining records, and ensuring program requirements are met.

• Strong communication, empathy and problem-solving to address challenges early.

A bit about the role

At Youth Projects, our In-Work Support Mentor plays a key role in helping young people supported through our programs stay connected to employment. Working within the Transition to Work service delivery model, you will provide tailored post-placement mentoring and employer engagement to ensure supportive and sustainable employment outcomes.

This role is focused on building strong relationships with young people and their employers during the crucial early stages of employment. You will keep in regular contact, identify challenges early and provide practical support to help address issues before they impact employment. Whether it is helping a young person adjust to workplace expectations, supporting communication between the employer and employee or working through barriers that may place employment at risk, your role will directly contribute to retention and long-term success.

A large priority of the role is to also maintain accurate records and ensure all support and engagement is delivered in line with program requirements. This role would suit someone with experience in employment services who is confident in engaging employers, building trust quickly and supporting young people to succeed in work.

Key Selection Criteria

• Certificate IV in Community Services, Youth Work, Mental Health, Career Development or a related field
• Experience in employment services, mentoring, post-placement support or employer engagement
• Ability to build strong relationships with clients, employers and key stakeholdersyou
