Job summary

Ventia is seeking a Panel Beater / Spray Painter for Defence Maintenance Contract, Moorebank, NSW. You will perform repair, restoration and refinishing on Defence vehicles, plant and equipment to support operational readiness, including panel beating, spray painting, abrasive blasting, fitting components and applying protective coatings.

Qualifications

• Trade Certificate III in Vehicle Body or Industrial Spray Painting required.
• Experience inspecting, repairing and refinishing vehicles and equipment.
• Proficient with airless spray painting and abrasive blasting.
• Ability to learn proprietary CMMS software quickly.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality panel repairs, component replacement and refitting on Defence vehicles and equipment.
• Restore vehicle bodies and chassis to manufacturer and Defence standards.
• Carry out welding, alignment, filling, sanding, finishing and rust-proofing.
• Prepare, mix and apply paints, primers and coatings.

Job description

The Opportunity

Join our Moorebank team supporting Australia's Defence Force through the Defence Maintenance Contract (DMC). As a Panel Beater / Spray Painter, you will perform repair, restoration and refinishing work on Defence vehicles, plant and equipment to support operational readiness.

You will carry out panel beating, spray painting and abrasive blasting activities, including repairing metal, plastic and fibreglass bodywork, refitting components, applying protective coatings and inspecting paint finishes. Working within a collaborative maintenance team, you'll use a range of tools and equipment to deliver high-quality repairs in line with Defence, safety and manufacturer standards.

To support operational requirements, you may be required to undertake a range of maintenance activities across the site. Opportunities for training and upskilling will be provided to ensure you can safely and effectively perform additional duties as required.

• $39.96per hour + 12% superannuation.

Key Accountabilities

• Deliver high-quality panel repairs, component replacement and refitting on Defence vehicles and equipment.
• Restore vehicle bodies and chassis to manufacturer and Defence standards.
• Carry out welding, alignment, filling, sanding, finishing and rust-proofing activities.
• Remove, reinstall and adjust mechanical and auto-electrical components as required.
• Prepare, mix and apply paints, primers and protective coatings.
• Complete touch-ups, polishing and final detailing to achieve a professional finish.
• Contribute to vehicle modifications, custom builds and signage installation.
• Maintain a strong focus on safety, quality and compliance in all work performed.
• Accurately complete job documentation and identify additional repair requirements.

About You

• Hold a recognised Trade Certificate III in Vehicle Body (Panel Beating) or Industrial Spray Painting.
• Hold a current C Class Driver's Licence.
• Demonstrated experience inspecting, repairing and refinishing motor vehicles and mechanical equipment.
• Experience operating airless spray-painting and abrasive blasting equipment.
• Knowledge of hazardous material removal processes.
• Ability to quickly learn and effectively use proprietary software and Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
• Additional skills and licences, including tyre fitting, forklift operation, dogging, trade assistant experience and an HR Licence, will be highly regarded.
• A flexible, team-focused approach, with a willingness to support a variety of maintenance activities as operational requirements demand.

You must be an Australian Citizen and able to obtain and maintain a Defence Security Clearance up to Negative Vetting Level 1 (NV1).
