Job summary

Chopt Studio & Productions is seeking a full-time Painter to join our production team in Caringbah NSW, working from our Caringbah workshop and on sites to prepare and finish cabinetry, joinery and fabricated set pieces to a high standard.

You will perform surface prep, apply paints and finishes, operate spray equipment, colour-match finishes, and ensure quality. The role offers a permanent position with rostered shifts and a salary of $80,028 per annum plus superannuation.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification in painting and decorating or equivalent experience.
• Experience with surface prep and finishing.
• Spray finishing experience, preferably cabinetry or furniture.
• Excellent colour matching and attention to detail.
• Knowledge of WHS requirements for painting work.

Responsibilities

• Prepare surfaces by sanding, filling, patching and priming.
• Apply paint, lacquer, polyurethane, and protective finishes.
• Operate and maintain spray equipment to a high standard.
• Mix paints to client specifications and colour-match as required.

Chopt Studio is a fast-growing experiential creative build company delivering large-scale projects across Australia. We are seeking a full-time Painter to join our production team on a permanent basis.

About the role

Working from our Caringbah workshop and on sites, you will be responsible for preparing and finishing custom cabinetry, joinery and fabricated set pieces to a high standard.

Duties include:

Preparing surfaces for finishing, including sanding, filling, patching, priming and masking

Applying paint, lacquer, polyurethane and other protective and decorative finishes by brush, roller and spray gun

Operating and maintaining spray equipment to a high standard

Colour matching and mixing paints and finishes to client specification

Applying specialty and decorative finishes to fabricated set and display pieces

Assessing surfaces and selecting appropriate preparation methods, materials and finishes

Inspecting and rectifying finished work to meet quality standards

Estimating material quantities and costs for jobs

Cleaning, maintaining and storing tools, equipment and materials

Working safely in accordance with WHS requirements, including correct use of PPE and safe handling of solvents and coatings

About you

Formal trade qualification in painting and decorating, or equivalent relevant experience

Demonstrated experience in surface preparation and finishing

Spray finishing experience, ideally on cabinetry, joinery or furniture

Fantastic colour matching skills and high attention to detail

Understanding of WHS requirements relevant to painting and finishing work

Able to work independently and as part of a production team

Reliable, with a strong work ethic and a practical, get-it-done mindset

What we offer

Full-time permanent position, averaging 76 ordinary hours per fortnight

$80,028 per annum ($40.50 per hour) plus superannuation

Shifts between 4 and 12 hours, rostered across any day of the week
