Central Highlands Regional Council invites applications for a Civil Construction Trainee in Emerald, QLD. This full‑time paid traineeship combines on‑the‑job experience with formal training, with the aim of achieving a Certificate III in Civil Construction.

You’ll work with experienced crews, learn to operate tools and plant, and gain hands‑on skills in roads, drainage and infrastructure projects. A White Card and a C Class Provisional Licence are required, with support to obtain the licence if

Qualifications

• Be 17 years or older and available for full‑time traineeship.
• Show a positive, safety‑mocussed approach and eagerness to learn.
• Commit to completing a Certificate III in Civil Construction.

Responsibilities

• Assist with construction and maintenance of roads, drainage, and civil infrastructure.
• Learn to safely operate hand tools, power tools, equipment and civil plant.
• Support excavation, earthworks, site preparation and road maintenance tasks.
• Assist with road repairs, gravel re‑sheeting, pavement construction and maintenance works.
• Install and maintain drainage structures and stormwater systems.
• Perform traffic management and safe work‑site setup as required.
• Carry out general labouring duties within a civil crew.
