Job summary

The Salvation Army is seeking a compassionate Casual Night Shift Support Worker in Adelaide to support residents in a 24/7 overnight service. You will conduct wellbeing checks, provide practical and emotional support, and help residents move towards independent living while maintaining a safe, respectful environment.

A Certificate IV in Community Services or related field is required, with experience in homelessness or crisis support preferred.

Qualifications

• Certificate IV in Community Services, Alcohol and Other Drugs, Mental Health, or a related qualification.
• Experience in homelessness, crisis support, residential care or similar settings is desirable.
• Understanding of trauma-informed practice and its impact on clients.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills required.
• Ability to work independently and confidently on overnight shifts.

Responsibilities

• Build professional relationships with residents.
• Provide practical and emotional support to people experiencing homelessness.
• Help residents develop independent living skills and pursue goals.
• Conduct wellbeing checks and respond to client needs.
• Assist with crisis intervention and de-escalation when required.
• Maintain accurate case notes and client documentation.
