Job summary

YHA Australia at Adelaide Central is seeking an enthusiastic Overnight Guest Services All‑Rounder for a casual role across Reception, Housekeeping, Guest Activities and Food & Beverage. You’ll help ensure seamless check‑in, friendly guest experiences and smooth operations through the night shift.

RSA and First Aid certificates are essential. Adaptability to rotating rosters, including weekends and holidays, and knowledge of local travel/tourism will help you thrive.

Qualifications

• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills are essential.
• Experience in customer service, hospitality, or a similar role is preferred.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office and reservations/POS systems is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Reception: Welcome guests and ensure smooth check-in/out processes.
• Guest Activities: Create, promote and plan guest activities.
• Housekeeping: Maintain property and rooms to high standards, manage laundry and safety issues.
• Food & Beverage: Ensure hygiene, prepare and serve food/beverages including coffee/barista work.
• Health & Safety: Adhere to YHA policies to keep guests safe.

About the role

We are on the search for a proactive and passionate hospitality all‑rounder to join our team in Adelaide. The Overnight Guest Services All‑Rounder is the ultimate Casual role that allows you to gain exposure to all operational aspects of our amazing properties and sets you up for a career in Hospitality and Tourism industry.

This is a unique position that allows you to work across Reception, Housekeeping, Guest Activities and Food and Beverage. With development opportunities locally and across Australia, this role is the perfect next step for someone looking to build the foundation of a career in general or property management.

Responsibilities include

• Reception – Welcoming guests to the property and ensuring their check‑in process is seamless whilst ensuring all accounts and documentation is recorded accurately.


• Guest Activities – Create, promote and plan guest activities including social events and activities to ensure our guests stay engaged and entertained.


• Housekeeping – Ensure the property and guest rooms are maintained to the highest standards. This includes ensuring laundry and managing any maintenance or safety issues are managed efficiently.


• Food & Beverage – Maintaining food hygiene and compliance remains of the highest standard. Preparation and service of food and beverages including coffee making / barista duties.


• Health & Safety – Ensure adherence to all YHA Policies and procedures to ensure the safety of yourself and others.

About you

You will need to have exceptional interpersonal and communication skills and enjoy providing guests with a fun and engaging service.

Ideally you'll have experience in customer service, hospitality, or a similar role.

You’ll need to have good attention to detail and organisational skills.

Experience using Microsoft office and ideally experience in reservations/POS or bookings systems.

Flexibility to work a rotating roster, including nights, weekends and public holidays (sometimes you’ll get to stay overnight!).

RSA certification and First Aid certificate are essential.

Knowledge of the local area and travel/tourism industry (desired).
