Job summary

Anglicare Central Queensland is seeking casual Outreach Support Workers to provide respite to carers by taking planned outings with young people; shifts may be in the afternoon or on weekends, with additional opportunities in Residential Care homes.

You will support youth to develop life skills, maintain connections to family and culture, and participate in activities aligned with care plans. Certification and experience with children and youth services are required.

Qualifications

• Certificate IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention/Community Services or equivalent; proof of enrolment required.
• At least 1 year relevant experience working with young people in out-of-home care or similar field.
• Alternative qualifications: Mental Health, Community Services, Youth Work certificates or related diplomas.

Responsibilities

• Provide planned outings with young people to develop life skills.
• Support connections to family, culture, country and community.
• Promote safety, health and wellbeing measures for young people.
• Facilitate social, recreational, educational and health activities per individual care plans.
• Assist young people in accessing appointments and transport.
• Engage therapeutically with young people.

About therole:

We arecurrently seeking casual Outreach Support Workers to join our teamin Rockhampton. Our Outreach Support Workers will provide respiteto carers by taking planned outings with young people (these shiftsare likely to take place in the afternoon or on the weekend). Aspart of the Residential Care team, shifts in our Residential Carehomes will also be available.

What will a typical day look like?

• Provideopportunities for children and young people to develop andlearn life skills appropriate to their age andability.
• Support youngpeople in maintaining connections with family, culture,country, and community.
• Support youngpeople to develop safety, health, and wellbeingmeasures.
• Support social,recreational, educational and health activities for youngpeople in line with their individual care plan.
• Support youngpeople in accessing appointments (transport).
• Engagetherapeutically with young people.

MandatoryRequirements:

• Certificate IV inChild, Youth and Family Intervention/Community Services orequivalent or working toward this qualification (proof ofenrolment required).
• 1year relevant experience working with young people in out ofhome care or similar field.
