Job summary

Amentum is seeking an Outfitting Engineer (Mechanical) to design, integrate and deliver maritime capability within a Defence environment. You will work with multidisciplinary teams to develop practical solutions that support installation of mission-critical equipment on naval platforms.

You will produce engineering documentation, participate in design reviews, and coordinate with Defence stakeholders, suppliers and engineering teams to ensure safe, functional and maintainable designs.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Experience in maritime, defence, shipbuilding, or complex engineering environments.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications and standards.
  • Experience developing engineering documentation and technical reports.
  • Knowledge of engineering assurance, verification and certification processes.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
  • Experience managing technical risks and engineering change processes.
  • Australian citizenship and Baseline NV1 security clearance preferred.

Tell me about this role:

As an Outfitting Engineer, you will play a key role in the design, integration, and delivery of maritime capability within a complex Defence environment. Working alongside multidisciplinary engineering teams, you will be responsible for developing practical engineering solutions that support the installation and integration of mission-critical equipment, systems, and infrastructure on maritime platforms.

This role offers the opportunity to contribute to high-profile Defence projects, ensuring that platform designs are safe, functional, maintainable, and fit for purpose. You will work closely with stakeholders across engineering, project management, and sustainment teams to deliver innovative solutions that support operational capability.
