Job summary

Amentum is seeking an Outfitting Engineer (Mechanical) to design, integrate and deliver maritime capability within a Defence environment. You will work with multidisciplinary teams to develop practical solutions that support installation of mission-critical equipment on naval platforms.

You will produce engineering documentation, participate in design reviews, and coordinate with Defence stakeholders, suppliers and engineering teams to ensure safe, functional and maintainable designs.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• Experience in maritime, defence, shipbuilding, or complex engineering environments.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications and standards.
• Experience developing engineering documentation and technical reports.
• Knowledge of engineering assurance, verification and certification processes.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
• Experience managing technical risks and engineering change processes.
• Australian citizenship and Baseline NV1 security clearance preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and review outfitting designs for maritime platforms.
• Design equipment foundations, mounting arrangements, and support structures.
• Coordinate the integration of mechanical and structural systems.
• Produce and review engineering documentation, drawings, and technical reports.
• Participate in design reviews and technical assurance activities.
• Work closely with Defence stakeholders, suppliers, and engineering teams.
• Support platform modifications and engineering change activities.
• Conduct assessments to ensure compliance with safety and engineering standards.
• Assist with testing, commissioning, and verification of installed equipment.
• Identify technical risks and develop practical mitigation strategies.
• Ensure maintainability, accessibility, and operability are considered throughout the design process.
