Job summary

Nambucca Valley Council is seeking a reliable Water Meter Officer to join the Water and Sewerage team in the NSW Mid North Coast. The role involves reading and replacing meters, investigating unusual usage, and supporting the shift to smart meter technology across the valley.

You’ll travel and manage routes, perform meter replacements, and keep accurate records with handheld devices. A practical, independent worker is preferred.

Qualifications

• NSW Class C driver's licence required.
• Construction Induction Card (White Card) required.
• Ability to work independently and manage daily routes.
• Strong communication skills and professional approach with the public.
• Awareness of workplace health and safety requirements.
• Ability to undertake active outdoor work including long walks, bending, kneeling and lifting up to 10 kg.

Responsibilities

• Read residential and commercial water meters along planned daily routes.
• Replace 20mm and 25mm water meters as part of renewal program.
• Investigate unusual water usage and assist customers with leaks.
• Support installation and transition to digital smart meter technology.
• Record readings, locations and replacements using handheld devices.
