Job summary

Peabody Energy’s Centurion mine is seeking an Outbye Mining Coordinator to oversee underground outbye activities, ensuring safe, reliable operations and alignment with the mine plan. The role reports to the Outbye Superintendent and involves coordinating infrastructure, roadway, and service work with multi-disciplinary teams.

The successful candidate will bring extensive underground experience, strong leadership, and a proactive safety focus in a dynamic underground environment.

The Opportunity

Peabody is seeking an experienced Outbye Mining Coordinator to join the team at our Centurion underground mine, located approximately 160 kilometres west of Mackay.

Reporting to the Outbye Superintendent, you will be responsible for coordinating and overseeing outbye mining activities that support the safe, reliable and efficient operation of the mine. This role plays a critical part in managing infrastructure, roadway development, services installations, contractor activities and operational readiness to ensure mining operations are supported safely and effectively.

Your Impact
  • Coordinate outbye mining activities to support safe and uninterrupted underground operations.
  • Lead the planning and execution of infrastructure, roadway and service-related work programs.
  • Ensure outbye work activities are aligned with the mine plan and operational requirements.
  • Monitor operational performance and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reliability.
  • Coordinate contractor activities and ensure compliance with all site standards and expectations.
  • Collaborate with production, maintenance and technical teams to achieve operational objectives.
  • Investigate operational issues and implement practical solutions to minimise disruption.
  • Manage work schedules, resource allocation and activity tracking.
  • Maintain compliance documentation, inspections and statutory records.
  • Promote a proactive safety culture through risk identification, hazard management and visible leadership in the field.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory, statutory and site requirements.
About You

You are a safety-focused leader who thrives in a challenging underground mining environment and enjoys coordinating multiple workstreams to deliver operational results. You build strong working relationships, communicate effectively and lead by example.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Demonstrated experience in underground coal mining operations.
  • Previous experience in a coordinator, supervisor or similar leadership role.
  • Strong understanding of underground mining systems, infrastructure and support services.
  • Supervisor qualifications (S1, S2, S3 and G2) or the ability to obtain.
  • Sound knowledge of risk management, hazard identification and safety compliance requirements.
  • Strong planning, organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience coordinating contractors and cross-functional work groups.
  • Effective communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • A proactive approach to continuous improvement and operational efficiency.
  • A collaborative, team-focused leadership style.
