Job summary

Centurion Mine, located approximately 160 kilometres west of Mackay, seeks an experienced Emergency Response Coordinator to safeguard emergency response capability across underground and surface operations. You will coordinate training, equipment management and compliance under the Manager, Health, Safety, Training & Compliance.

You will lead Mine Rescue, Fire Officer duties and first aid readiness, working with operations and leadership to ensure high safety and regulatory standards and

Responsibilities

• Monitor and report emergency response capability and site readiness.
• Lead investigations, drills and incident response exercises.
• Drive continuous improvement of emergency management systems.

The Opportunity

Peabody is seeking an experienced Emergency Response Coordinator to join our team at Centurion Mine, located approximately 160 kilometres west of Mackay.

Reporting to the Manager, Health, Safety, Training & Compliance, you will play a critical role in coordinating all aspects of emergency response systems, procedures and preparedness across the operation. This is a key role focused on maintaining emergency response capability, ensuring statutory compliance and supporting the safe and effective execution of emergency management activities across both underground and surface operations.

You will work closely with operational and leadership teams to ensure emergency response personnel, equipment, training and systems are maintained to the highest standards and are always ready to respond.

Your Impact

• Coordinate Mine Rescue teams to ensure compliance with legislated manning levels and competency requirements.
• Fulfil the statutory responsibilities of the site's Fire Officer.
• Manage all First Aid, Mine Rescue and Firefighting equipment, ensuring inspections, maintenance and compliance requirements are met.
• Monitor, record and report on emergency response capability and site preparedness.
• Coordinate and deliver emergency response training programs across the operation.
• Provide specialist emergency response advice for both underground and surface mining activities.
• Support emergency exercises, simulations and incident response activities.
• Ensure compliance with all emergency response legislation, site standards and regulatory requirements.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives across emergency management systems and processes.
• Promote a strong safety culture through effective leadership, coaching and stakeholder engagement.

About You

You are a safety-focused mining professional with extensive emergency response experience, strong leadership capability and a passion for protecting people and maintaining operational readiness.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Extensive underground coal mining experience.
• Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
• Fire Officer qualification and current First Aid certification.
• Demonstrated experience in Mine Rescue operations.
• Strong understanding of emergency response systems and statutory requirements within the Queensland coal mining industry.
• Experience coordinating training, equipment management and emergency preparedness activities.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Strong organisational and planning skills.
• A proactive approach to risk management and continuous improvement.
• Commitment to Safety, Integrity, Operational Excellence and Courageous Leadership.
