Job summary

Peabody Energy, Centurion Mine near Mackay, is seeking an experienced Emergency Response Coordinator to join the Health, Safety & Environmental team. You will coordinate emergency response systems, maintain compliance across underground and surface operations, and work with site leadership to keep personnel and equipment ready to respond.

Qualifications

  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment is required.
  • Fire Officer qualification and First Aid certification are essential.
  • Experience in Mine Rescue operations is required.
  • Strong knowledge of emergency response systems and statutory requirements in Queensland coal mining.
  • Experience coordinating training, equipment management and emergency preparedness activities.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Strong organisational and planning skills.
  • Proactive approach to risk management and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate Mine Rescue teams to ensure compliance with Manning levels and competencies.
  • Fulfil statutory responsibilities of the site's Fire Officer.
  • Manage First Aid, Mine Rescue and Firefighting equipment with inspections and maintenance.
  • Monitor, record and report emergency response capability and site preparedness.
  • Coordinate and deliver emergency response training programs across the operation.
  • Provide specialist emergency response advice for underground and surface mining.
  • Support emergency exercises, simulations and incident response activities.
  • Ensure compliance with emergency response legislation, site standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvement across emergency management systems and processes.
  • Promote a strong safety culture through leadership and stakeholder engagement.

The Opportunity

Peabody is seeking an experiencedEmergency Response Coordinatorto join our team at Centurion Mine, located approximately 160 kilometres west of Mackay.

Reporting to theManager, Health, Safety, Training & Compliance, you will play a critical role in coordinating all aspects of emergency response systems, procedures and preparedness across the operation. This is a key role focused on maintaining emergency response capability, ensuring statutory compliance and supporting the safe and effective execution of emergency management activities across both underground and surface operations.

You will work closely with operational and leadership teams to ensure emergency response personnel, equipment, training and systems are maintained to the highest standards and are always ready to respond.

Your Impact
  • Coordinate Mine Rescue teams to ensure compliance with legislated manning levels and competency requirements.
  • Fulfil the statutory responsibilities of the site's Fire Officer.
  • Manage all First Aid, Mine Rescue and Firefighting equipment, ensuring inspections, maintenance and compliance requirements are met.

About You

You are a safety-focused mining professional with extensive emergency response experience, strong leadership capability and a passion for protecting people and maintaining operational readiness.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
  • Fire Officer qualification and current First Aid certification.
  • Demonstrated experience in Mine Rescue operations.
  • Strong understanding of emergency response systems and statutory requirements within the Queensland coal mining industry.
  • Experience coordinating training, equipment management and emergency preparedness activities.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Strong organisational and planning skills.
  • A proactive approach to risk management and continuous improvement.
