Job summary

Gowrie NSW is seeking an Educational Leader at Assistant Manager level to lead practice and support educators in delivering high-quality, child-centred experiences within our OSHC service. You will coach and mentor staff, model strong practice on the floor, and help teams reflect on how children engage with play.

You will lead with a Playwork-informed philosophy, focusing on child-led play, meaningful choice and outdoor activity while upholding safety and compliance.

Qualifications

• Leadership experience in an OSHC or early childhood setting.
• Experience coaching and mentoring educators.
• Strong communication and relationship-building with teams, families and school partners.
• Understanding of child-led play and Playwork-informed practice.

Your Impact

As an Educational Leader at Assistant Manager level, you will play an important role in leading practice and supporting educators to deliver high-quality, child-centred experiences.

Your leadership will include:

• Coaching and mentoring educators to build confidence, consistency and quality in their practice
• Modelling strong practice and providing practical, reflective guidance on the floor
• Supporting educators to reflect on how they engage with children and respond to children's play
• Encouraging environments that promote choice, creativity, outdoor play and active play
• Supporting educators to use risk-benefit thinking while maintaining strong supervision and child-safe practices
• Providing constructive feedback and helping educators develop their professional practice
• Contributing to a positive service culture where children are respected, capable and heard
• Working collaboratively with the leadership team to maintain compliance and exceeding practices
• Building strong relationships with children, families, educators and school representatives

Your excellent communication, relationship management and leadership skills will be key to your success.

About You

We'd love to hear from you if you:

• Have a Certificate III or Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care
• Have previous leadership or team-leading experience
• Have experience supporting educators through coaching, mentoring or professional guidance
• Have a strong understanding of child-led play, children's agency and play-based practice
• Are passionate about creating environments where children have genuine choice and opportunities to lead their own play
• Are confident reflecting on practice, giving feedback and supporting educators to improve
• Have experience managing compliance and administrative requirements
• Are calm, approachable, reflective and confident in a fast-paced OSHC environment
• Are a team player with a creative, energetic and relational approach
• Have valid compliance certificates (e.g. WWCC, Child Protection, First Aid etc.)
