Whoosh Care in Surry Hills is seeking a part-time OSHC 2IC to lead and support the after-school program for school-aged children. You will work closely with a Team Leader to maintain high standards of practice, supervision, and family communication, while guiding educators to deliver engaging, safe programs.

We are looking for a 2IC who brings both personality and leadership presence.
Someone who can:
Facilitate a craft table without losing structure
Navigate friendship drama with calm authority
Step into games with children while still maintaining supervision awareness
Support the Team Leader in maintaining smooth daily operations
Confidently communicate with families and the school community
Guide and support educators to maintain high standards of practice
Contribute ideas and leadership, not just follow instructions
You will work closely with an experienced Team Leader and supportive provider. This role requires initiative, reliability, and the ability to step into leadership when needed.
Programming for year 3-6 children
Supporting the Team Leader with the day to day operation of the service
Leading educators and modelling strong practice
Supervising and engaging children in meaningful play
Supporting routines, transitions, and headcount processes
Contributing to creative, child led programming
Building respectful relationships with children, families, and educators
Maintaining high standards of safety, supervision, and compliance
Stepping into leadership responsibilities when the Team Leader is unavailable
At times you will act as the Responsible Person for the service when the Team Leader is not present. This means overseeing the safe and compliant operation of the service, ensuring supervision and ratios are maintained, supporting educators in their roles, communicating with families, and making confident operational decisions in line with Whoosh policies and regulatory requirements.
This is not a passive role. We want leaders who lean in.
This part-time role requires availability for a couple of before and 5 after school care sessions.
NSW Working With Children Check
First Aid, CPR, Asthma and Anaphylaxis certification, or willingness to obtain
Experience working with school-aged children
A minimum of 2 years' experience working with school-aged children is required.
Confidence managing groups and supporting educator practice
Strong communication and leadership skills
Reliability, initiative, and professional judgement
