Job summary

Alcon Australia is seeking a Process Development Engineer, Manufacturing on a 12 month fixed-term contract to design, develop and implement scalable production processes for eye care products.

The role emphasizes optimizing equipment layouts, production sequences, and process controls with a strong focus on compliance, safety, and continuous improvement. A solid mechanical, chemical and optics background and hands-on problem solving are essential.

Qualifications

• Min bachelor's degree in engineering, automation ect related discipline.
• 5-10 years NPI engineer, process engineer experience in MTO, prefer in start-ups, relevant experience in highly regulated industry with complex product lines. Optics most preferred.
• Hands-on approach with a strong ability to work directly on equipment and processes.
• Self-starter who can work independently and take initiative in problem-solving and process improvement.

Responsibilities

• Designing arrangement of manufacturing equipment to ensure most efficient and productive layout.
• Designing the sequence of production operations, specifying procedures for the fabrication of applicable tools and equipment, and adapting machinery in response to factory conditions.
• Conducting tests throughout all stages of production to determine control over applicable variables and troubleshooting/solving production problems.
• Providing guidance and inputs to product design engineering on technical specifications that will best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques.
• Ensuring that production processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations.
• Responsible for supporting optical assembly processes, including proper handling and cleaning techniques of optical components to maintain high-quality standards.
• The role requires familiarity with optical adhesives and a basic understanding of bonding chemistry to ensure effective and reliable assembly.
• Knowledge of optical systems, optical measurements and optical system performance.
• Requires understanding of compliance, pharmaceutical, biological, biochemical, medical, patent and commercial factors.
• Make recommendations concerning acquisition and use of new technological equipment and materials; develop and inform new product design or current product upgrades to ensure manufacturability and assembly; support investigations by providing technical reports for use by regulatory agencies/bodies.
