Job summary

Picton Eyecare is looking for a friendly Optical Assistant to join our independent practice in Picton. This part-time role, three days a week (Mon, Thu, Sat), welcomes candidates from retail, customer service, or reception backgrounds who are eager to learn about optical dispensing.

You don’t need optical dispensing experience to apply; previous optical experience or a Certificate IV in Optical Dispensing would be valued, but not essential.

Qualifications

• No optical experience required, but helpful if you have some exposure.
• Certificate IV in Optical Dispensing would be valued, but is not essential.
• Strong customer service and communication skills are key.

Responsibilities

• Welcoming patients and assisting with enquiries
• Helping people choose frames that suit their style, needs and budget
• Managing appointments and general practice administration
• Assisting with retail sales and eyewear collections
• Learning about lenses, prescriptions, measurements and optical processes
• Supporting the optometrist and team with the day-to-day running of the practice

Part-time | Monday, Thursday & Saturday

If you’re naturally good with people, have an eye for style and enjoy creating a great customer experience, you don’t need optical experience to find your place at Picton Eyecare.

We’re looking for a friendly and capable Optical Assistant to join our independent practice three days a week. You might already have optical experience, or you could be coming from retail, customer service, reception or another people-focused role and be ready to learn something new.

What will your day look like?

You’ll be one of the friendly faces our patients get to know, helping make their experience easy and enjoyable from the moment they walk through the door.

Your day will include:

• Welcoming patients and assisting with enquiries

• Assisting with retail sales and eyewear collections

What are we looking for?

You don’t need to be an Optical Dispenser to apply. Previous optical experience or a Certificate IV in Optical Dispensing would certainly be valued, but it isn’t essential.

More importantly, we’re looking for someone who brings:

• Strong customer service and communication skills
• Great attention to detail
• A friendly, reliable and confident approach
• An interest in fashion, eyewear and helping people find the right solution
• Confidence using computers and learning new systems
• A willingness to learn the optical side of the role

An interest in or knowledge of social media would also be a bonus.
