Job summary

Picton Eyecare is hiring an Optical Assistant to join their independent practice three days a week (Monday, Thursday and Saturday). You don't need optical experience to apply; a background in retail or customer service is welcome as you’ll help patients select frames and manage daily tasks.

We value friendly, reliable individuals with strong communication skills and a keen eye for fashion. Training in optical basics will be provided to the right person.

Qualifications

• Previous optical experience or a Certificate IV in Optical Dispensing is valued but not essential.
• Strong customer service and communication skills are important.
• Interest in fashion, eyewear and helping people find the right solution.

Responsibilities

• Welcoming patients and assisting enquiries at the desk.
• Helping people choose frames that suit style, needs and budget.
• Managing appointments and practice administration.
• Assisting with retail sales and eyewear collections.
• Learning about lenses, prescriptions and optical processes.
• Supporting the optometrist and team in day-to-day running.

We're looking for a friendly and capable Optical Assistant to join our independent practice three days a week. You might already have optical experience, or you could be coming from retail, customer service, reception or another people-focused role and be ready to learn something new.

What will your day look like?

You'll be one of the friendly faces our patients get to know, helping make their experience easy and enjoyable from the moment they walk through the door.

Your day will include:

• Welcoming patients and assisting with enquiries

• Learning about lenses, prescriptions, measurements and optical processes


• Supporting the optometrist and team with the day-to-day running of the practice

What are we looking for?

You don't need to be an Optical Dispenser to apply. Previous optical experience or a Certificate IV in Optical Dispensing would certainly be valued, but it isn't essential.

More importantly, we're looking for someone who brings:

• Strong customer service and communication skills

• Confidence using computers and learning new systems


• A willingness to learn the optical side of the role

An interest in or knowledge of social media would also be a bonus.
