Job summary
Rio Tinto is seeking expressions of interest for Operators at Boyne Smelters in Queensland. You will join a safety-focused team responsible for the safe, continuous production of aluminium via mobile and fixed plant equipment while performing manual duties.
The role involves operating cranes, assisting in process operations, and handling heavy equipment on a 12-hour lifestyle roster. Previous mobile equipment experience is preferred, and training is provided.
Qualifications
- Current valid driver’s licence.
- Able to work in a team and manage workload autonomously.
- Willing to work in labour-intensive roles, in confined spaces, at heights and in hot environments.
- Experience with mobile equipment such as forklift, EWP, crane or dozer preferred.
- Willingness to work a lifestyle roster with 12-hour shifts including days and nights.
Responsibilities
- Operate cranes to set anodes and tap metal; tend cells.
- Process operations including cell dressing, beams, and bath handling.
- Drive mobile equipment as required (forklifts, etc.).
- Perform process control tasks on panels and casting operations.
- Transport metal, prepare furnaces, cast and inspect ingots.
