Job summary

Sims Limited is seeking an Operator - Day Shift at our Sydney facility. This hands-on role reports to the Yard Supervisor and involves receiving, sorting, and moving recyclable materials while maintaining a safe yard.

You will operate a forklift, assist with traffic management, and provide strong customer service to drivers and visitors. A current Forklift Licence is essential, with yard-hand experience in industrial settings a plus. This is a full-time, on-site role.

Operator - Day Shift (9:00am - 5:00pm)

Reporting to the Yard Supervisor, you will play a key role in the safe and efficient day-to-day operation of our recycling facility. This hands-on role will see you working closely with customers, drivers, and the operations team to receive, process, and organise recyclable materials while maintaining a safe and productive yard environment.

Working as part of a dedicated team, you will assist with traffic management, operate a forklift, support customers on site, and ensure materials are handled safely and efficiently.

What you'll be doing:

• Operate a forklift to load, unload, and move materials safely.
• Managing traffic control and maintaining a safe flow of vehicles throughout the site.
• Inspect, sort, and process incoming recyclable materials.
• Maintain a clean, organised, and safe work environment.
• Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and operational procedures.
• Identify and report hazards, incidents, and unsafe conditions.
• Assist with general yard duties and other operational tasks as required.
• Deliver outstanding customer service and represent the business professionally.

What you'll bring:

• Current Forklift Licence (essential).
• Previous yard hand experience, ideally within the waste, recycling, scrap metal, or a similar industrial environment.
• Strong customer service skills and the ability to interact with a wide range of people.

• Knowledge of traffic control would be highly regarded.
